The Walkhampton Inn’s new manager is hoping to be open Wednesday night (Nov 29).

Full opening hours and full service will arrive gradually, but the aim is to keep opening evenings from Wednesday for people to drop in for a drink and see how the renovations are shaping.

The pub has been closed for three years but local entrepreneur Chris Reed has signed a 10-year lease and installed his son Frazer, 25, to run it. Another son, Declan, will be involved part-time and a chef has been hired.

Matt Bettesworth of Bettesworths Commercial Property Agents, Torquay, who were agents for the deal, said today: “It is great that Chris has decided to take over the Walkhampton Inn. I am sure with his enthusiasm and experience he will put this lovely pub back on the map.”
